Math Building Blocks

Friday: 6:15 to 7:30 pm
Fee: 35 CHF per class 140 CHF per month

The Montessori math and geometry materials are extraordinary! Children are able to fully understand very advanced concepts by manipulating the materials which have a built in self correction. Working abstractly is always the goal. In this special class, students are taken at their individual level and progress from there. The following topics can/will be covered depending on the beginning skill of the child upon commencing at the Montessori House:

Mathematics:

· Counting up to 9,999,999 using both quantity and numeric symbol along with written out numbers
· Addition: understanding the concept of addition, memorization from one to 9, addition of numbers greater than units with no carry over, addition with carry over
· Subtraction: understanding the concept of subtraction, memorization of facts, subtraction without borrowing, subtraction with borrowing
· Multiplication: understanding the concept of multiplication, memorization of facts up to ten, multiplying grater than 10
· Division: understanding the concept of division, memorization of facts up to 81
· Fractions: equivalency

Geometry:
· Angles: measuring, relationship between two angles, and parts of an angel
· Lines and relationship between two parallel lines with a transversal
· Kinds and parts of triangles
· Kinds and parts of quadrilaterals
· Kinds and parts of polygons
